Hi all,
Here are a few tips learned the hard way to speeding up the game.
1)
Shut off other programs that you don't need. (i.e. Firewall and virus scanner if your not online... that was a bit embarrassing)
2)
Have your encounters and maps playtested. (i.e. screens of fog will prevent your players from clicking their figures, place it as a tile instead.)
3)
Have your encounters and maps exported as a media asset file and your players have them all imported. (Yup I know. It should be common sense, slip-ups happen.)
4)
Have deployment files of your players and quick encounters set up. So, lets say the map fails to load or some other glitch, load a simple map and deploy the PC's, NPC's, key objects and on with the game.
5)
Keep offline line hard copies of what you need for the game session or be willing to make it up on the fly and have scrap paper.
6)
Upgrade and maintain your computer. Make sure you have all your junk files cleaned up so your computer will run more smoothly. If you can get more RAM and upgrade you Internet speed.
7)
Don't panic and Keep trying. Remember you and your players are learning, too. If all else fails set up another time.
Some ideas I hope are useful to you. Good luck and Happy Gaming!
