BRPG v1.4k beta released

BRPG v1.4k is now available for download. It is to be considered in beta status for the time being.

The main features of this update are:
¢ Ability to auto-roll initiative for all combatants
¢ Improvements to the Card Table
¢ Chat and other messages now also appear briefly in the Map window
¢ Bug fixes

The format for Encounters and Deployments has not changed since v1.4j.

BRPG v1.4k is currently only available as a patch for v1.4j. You must already have v1.4j installed in order to use this patch.

How to "install" this patch: Unzip the downloaded file, then simply move the included files into the corresponding BRPG v1.4j folders, overwriting the existing files when prompted.

¢ More than doubled the maximum card deck size to 450 cards.
¢ Optimized the Card Table so that card-dragging operations and Card Table screen refreshes don't slow down when a very large card deck is in use.
¢ Change: The card deck and the Discard Pile are no longer drawn in an offset fashion to indicate roughly how many cards remain in the stack.
¢ Added an "Auto-magnify" option to the card table. Enabling it will show you the magnified view of any card you roll the mouse over, without having to click-and-hold on the card.
¢ Overly-large cards are now drawn at a reduced size in a player's hand, so as not to exceed the size of the hand pane at the top of the Card Table window. For consistency, cards in the Play Area, in the Card Deck, and in the Discard Pile are also drawn at this reduced size.
¢ Added a "Return this Card to Hand" command for cards in the Play Area of the Card Table.
¢ Added a checkbox and pulldown menu to the Dice Macro Configuration screen. These controls can be used to apply a dice roll result to any custom value listed in the Turn Sequencer. The most common use of this feature will be to roll for initiative at the start of every turn, but the feature could also be used for other things, such as randomly determining a creature's Hit Points.
¢ Added a "Roll Initiative" button to the Turn Sequencer (it only appears for the GM). Pressing this button will automatically roll initiative for all combatants (i.e., every unit listed in the Turn Sequencer) by auto-rolling an attached Dice Macro called "Initiative", and (if the dice macro has been properly configured) the result of the roll will be automatically applied to the "Initiative" column on the Turn Sequencer, and the units will be automatically re-sorted in acting order. Units that do not have an "Initiative" dice macro attached to them will retain their prior initiative value (if any) on the Turn Sequencer. Dice rolls for initiative that have been initiated (pardon the pun) from the Turn Sequencer are not displayed in the traditional manner (i.e., they are not shown in the "Dice Roll Results" screen or reported in the Chat window), although players will hear the die rolls being made (unless they've opted not to hear die roll sound effects). However, the initiative rolls are added to everyone's Dice Roll History, should they wish to inspect the rolls.
¢ Added an Undo button on the Turn Sequencer, which allows the GM to go back one step in the sequence, in case you stepped the sequence by accident (or if two users stepped the sequence simultaneously). Loading an Encounter will clear the Turn Sequencer's Undo buffer.
¢ If the Turn Sequencer has been configured to use phases, the phase name or number will now be shown briefly in the top left of the Map window (where the Zoom Level Indicator is).
¢ Many messages that appear in the Chat window now also appear briefly in the top-left corner of the Map window (where the Zoom Level Indicator is). This should be particularly useful for users who keep the Chat window is closed (e.g., in face-to-face games, or solo games).
¢ It is now possible to attach global dice macros to multi-unit selections.
¢ Bug fix: The "Step the Sequence" button and the "Roll Dice Macro..." button on the Map window are now hidden while creating a screenshot.
¢ Bug fix: The Dice Roller window no longer disappears.
¢ Bug fix: The active figure halo was not being reset properly on some occasions after the Turn Sequence had moved on beyond the active figure.
¢ Bug fix: The "Roll Dice Macro..." button on the Map window wasn't working if the Dice Roller had not yet been opened in a given BRPG session.
¢ Bug fix: If a value in the Turn Sequencer is set to "Mask Value from Non-owners", only the player who owns the unit can now see the actual value (others will see "N/A").
¢ Bug fix: If the Turn Sequencer has been configured to use turn phases, the start of a new turn is no longer announced when only the current phase has changed.
¢ Bug fix: If "Automatic Blackout Mode" is enabled in the GM's Preferences, blackout mode will now be engaged on players' screens whenever the map is changed, even if Fog of War is currently disabled.
¢ Bug fix: The text input field in the Chat window now allows for long text to wrap to another line, although the text field remains a fixed size.

Due to several bugs with the Dice Roller, v1.4k is not suitable for actual gaming.

v1.4L will be released very shortly to address these bugs.
