BRPG v1.4c beta released |
|
BRPG v1.4c is now available for download. It is to be considered in beta status for the time being.
The main features of this update are:
• Added support for games with tick-based sequencing mechanics (e.g., Exalted, WoD, Scion, etc.)
• The Dice Results window is now reduced in size when few dice are rolled
• Added an "End My Turn" button that shows for the active player
• Bug fixes
The format for Encounters and Deployments has not changed since v1.4b. The "User Cast.cxt" file has changed since v1.4b, so do not copy over the "User Cast.cxt" file from a prior BRPG version.
This is a full install, and no patch version is planned.
Download BRPG v1.4c here:
Windows version (124.6 MB)
Mac version (129.4 MB)
Installation instructions are included in each download.
Edit: A file was inadvertently left out of this release (and all the other v1.4.x releases), so I am making it available here as a separate download. This file is needed in order to play MP3 files in Battlegrounds. Simply scroll down to the Attachments portion of this post, download the appropriate zip file for your operating system, unzip the file, and place its contents in BRPG's Xtras folder. The next time you launch BRPG, you will be able to play MP3 files. If you don''t need to play MP3s in BRPG, you do not need to download this file.
_____________________________________________________
Although the ReadMe file with the information below is contained in the v1.4c download, some people might find it useful to see the changes prior to downloading the zip file.
Version History:
v1.4c
• Added support in the Turn Sequencer and the TS Setup Wizard for RPG systems with tick-based sequencing mechanics (e.g., Exalted, WoD, Scion, etc.).
• Setting the current turn or round to zero now means the game is out of "combat time".
• An "End my Turn" button now appears, centered along the bottom edge of the map window, if the player controls the active unit (as defined by the Turn Sequencer) and if the game is in "combat time".
• Change: Got rid of the "End my Turn" command on a unit's contextual popup menu.
• Resized the placeholder maps to make sure they fit properly on laptop computers with a widescreen format.
• The grid overlay is now hidden if a placeholder map is showing.
• Change: The Dice Roll Results window is now dynamically sized (large, medium, or small) according to how many dice were rolled, in order to prevent the window from being much larger than it needs to be if few dice are being rolled.
• Change: The number of Free-Floating objects available has been reduced from 18 to 12. Some of the game engine's sprites had to be reclaimed for upcoming features.
• Change: Reinstated an old feature that had somehow been disabled. You can now remove individual dice from the dice roll results screen by clicking on each die you wish to remove. The total result will be recalculated automatically.
• Bug fix: The minimum and maximum values set for a dice macro's roll modifiers now work properly. Now you can even set upper and lower limits to a die roll even if you're not applying a modifier to the roll (i.e., the modifier can be set to zero, which wasn't possible before).
• Bug fix: Users connected to a GM should no longer receive an alert about not being able to save more than 12 units without having a GM Client.
• Bug fix: Units are no longer shown while a placeholder map is showing, even if the placeholder map is being dragged or if a selection marquee is being drawn.
• Bug fix: Clicking on the "Purge All" button on the Purge Media panel no longer causes an error.
• Bug fix: The "Apply these settings to existing units" checkbox on the "Edit Figure" and "Edit Object" panels wasn't working as expected.
• Bug fix: The "Save these settings as the default" checkbox on the "Edit Figure" and "Edit Object" panels wasn't working as expected
• Bug fix: When placing units on the map while offline, units are no longer automatically hidden.
• Bug fix: The "Toggle Fullscreen Mode" command now works consistently (it used to get "stuck" after two uses).
• Bug fix: If the option to include a figure's text labels in the Notes column of the Turn Sequencer was enabled, units without any Notes entered on the Turn Sequencer were having their text labels re-appended to their Notes every time the unit was edited in the Turn Sequencer (e.g., "[Prone] [Prone] [Prone]" after editing a given row three times).
• Bug fix: When exporting an external media bundle, if an external media bundle with that filename already exists, it is now overwritten so that the new export won't fail.
• Bug fix: When exporting an external media bundle, any missing media is now excluded from the bundle. In prior versions, the program tried to include the missing media, sometimes causing corruption in the program which prevented future media bundle exports from working.
• Bug fix: If a dice macro with more than one die type was set to sort the dice in descending order, the secondary dice were being displayed first, and if a label was being used, the label would appear under the primary dice.

It certainly was. Thanks for the heads up. It's fixed now.

I followed your instructions, but I'm still having trouble playing mp3's. If I click on the "Send" button, the audio window closes and nothing happens. If I click on the preview button, I get the following internal error: Unexpected failure while compositing bitmap member 33 of PLAYER-CAST 8.

Those instructions won't fix the Play bug, but it should have fixed the Preview bug, and once it Previews once, it should be able to Play thereafter. See if relaunching BRPG after disabling all artpacks gives you better results.

If by relaunching you mean to just quit BRPG and then launch it again, I had already done that. Is it more complicated than that by chance?
Also, I don't have any artpacks, yet. So, that shouldn't be an issue either.

Ah, since it said "Cast 8" in the error message, I assumed you had an artpack, since there are only 7 cast files in BRPG when no artpacks are loaded.
