PostPosted: Mon Feb 02, 2009 7:04 pm    Post subject:  BRPG v1.4a beta released

BRPG v1.4a is now available for download. It is to be considered in beta status for the time being.

The main features of this update are:
• Added support for D&D 4th Edition vision rules
• Numerous bug fixes

The format for Encounters and Deployments has not changed since v1.4. The "User Cast.cxt" file has not changed since v1.4, so copying over the "User Cast.cxt" file from a prior BRPG version may be a fast and efficient way to preserve your media if you are updating from that version of BRPG.

This is a full install. A patch version is available below.

Download BRPG v1.4a here:
Windows version (124.5 MB)
Mac version (129.3 MB)

Installation instructions are included in each download.

For convenience, v1.4a is also available as a patch. You must already have v1.4 installed in order to use this patch.

Download BRPG v1.4a PATCH here:
Windows version (4.5 MB)
Mac version (4.5 MB)

How to "install" this patch: Unzip the downloaded file, then simply move the included files into your BRPG v1.4 folder, and overwrite the existing files when prompted.

Although the ReadMe file with the information below is contained in the v1.4a download, some people might find it useful to see the changes prior to downloading the zip file.

Version History:
v1.4a

• Added support for D&D 4th Edition vision rules (also potentially useful for other game systems). This makes it possible for some units to see in complete darkness, and for some units to see clearly even with dim light sources.
• Change: The ESC key can now be used to close most panels and windows.
• Change: The Library window is no longer modal, and it now has a Close box in the title bar.
• Change: Players now have access to the light and vision settings for the units they own.
• Change: Clicking on the "Disconnect" button on the Connection panel while holding down the Shift key will now force a disconnect, without waiting for confirmation from the GM Client. This should only be used as a last resort in cases where the GM Client is not responding to the normal Disconnect command.
• Bug fix: Fixed several issues with dice roll reports in the Chat window when rolling two sets of dice independently.
• Bug fix: If the secondary die type is not labeled, the dice roll report in the Chat window no longer displays empty parenthesis after the roll description.
• Bug fix: The "Edit Figure" panel is no longer cropped off at the bottom such that you cannot see the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons if you've set the Preferences to have panels open in the center of the screen.
• Bug fix: The "Display Labels" setting on the third Preferences screen is now retained after pressing the "OK" button.
• Bug fix: Overwriting a saved Encounter no longer adds ".bge" to the filename if ".bge" was already specified in the filename.
• Bug fix: Auto-updated Encounters no longer get saved to BRPG's root directory. Now they are properly stored in the "Encounters" folder.
• Bug fix: If "Hide Text Labels" is enabled, unit rollovers were not being detected if Fog of War was on, or if the Movement Guide was obscuring the target unit.
• Bug fix: Unit updates in multiplayer games no longer produce an error if the unit being updated is a Figure.
• Bug fix: The Turn Sequencer no longer produces an error every time the table is refreshed/redrawn.
• Bug fix: Players can now access the contextual popup menu on a unit that is owned by "Everyone".
• Bug fix: Figures that were set to "Stealth/Invisible" were not showing up for players when the figure was owned by "Everyone".
• Bug fix: The grid overlay on the GM Client no longer disappears when a player steps the sequence, if the Map Settings for an Encounter are set to allow each client to choose whether or not to show a grid.
• Bug fix: The default map scale settings are now properly loaded when entering the third Preferences screen.
• Bug fix: The default map scale settings are now properly saved after pressing the "OK" button on the third Preferences screen.
• Bug fix: If a unit is owned by "Everyone", then the Step Sequence button on the Turn Sequencer is available to all players when it is that unit's turn to act (i.e., the Step button is no longer disabled).
• Bug fix: If a player logs off or the GM disconnects, the player clients are no longer bound by the grid visibility settings and the snap-to-grid settings that the GM had established.
• Bug fix: Checking and unchecking the "Disable Commands Panel" checkbox on the third Preferences screen now works as expected.
• Bug fix: Tweaked code to prevent "Unable to open file UIMIAW.dxr because it is already in use" error message on Windows PCs.
• Bug fix: On Mac OS X, it is now possible to quit BRPG by selecting the "Quit" command from the "Battlegrounds RPG Edition" menu on the menubar, or by clicking on the red Close box on the Map window. You will still be asked for confirmation, as with the various other options for quitting BRPG.
• Bug fix: The "FoW Opacity" control on the Fog of War panel now displays and saves the proper setting.
• Bug fix: The "Animated Fire" media is no longer purgeable in the Purge Media panel.
• Bug fix: Saved dice macros were sometimes not working correctly the first time a dice macro attached to a unit was loaded (or auto-rolled). This would happen regardless of whether the dice macro was saved in an Encounter or in a Deployment.
• Bug fix: Figures owned by "Everyone" no longer repeatedly fade in and out on a player's screen if the figure is Hidden or set to Stealthy/Invisible.
• Bug fix: Removed an unneeded menu divider from the BG button that appeared when no units were deployed on the map.
• Bug fix: Removed an unneeded menu divider from the BG button that appeared when the Commands panel was open.
• Bug fix: If the GM changes the grid type while other users are connected, the grid type is now updated on the connected clients, too.
