Placing objects

Post by Race Dragondancer » Mon Jan 29, 2007 1:25 am

Hi Im having a little trouble with placing objects. It seem that when I placed a door on my map and set it where I need it and then I set another and try to place it with the vertical and horizontal comands both doors move. And I tried it with other objects and the same thing happens. Am I doing something wrong.

I love this program.

Sounds like you have the "Apply to All" checkbox marked when editing the object. Uncheck that and then do your rotation.

Or, on the door, right click>flip image>horizontal/vertical and it should only do that image.

Welcome, Race Dragondancer.

Are you using v1.0.4 of BRPG? Because it's entirely possible that this is a bug introduced in v1.0.4, if the second door is a clone of the first door (i.e., if it was copied and pasted, rather than deployed separately). I've had similar things happen whan adding labels to figures and such (the labels would appear on all the clones, too), but I thought I had fixed all those bugs. I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow.

Race,

I just tested this (unit rotating, Flip Hoizontal and Flip Vertical) and it works correctly.

What might have happened is that you may have had both doors selected when you rotated them.

Or, more likely, that you adjusted the horizontal and vertical offsets of the door graphic itself, in which case it is intended behaviour that both/all doors be similarly adjusted. It's a little confusing in that scale and rotation settings can vary with each unit, but offsets are shared by all units with that artwork, but that's the way it needs to work.

What I recommend is that you properly define the door's hinge point once (using the offset controls), and then position doors on your map with snap-to-grid turned off.

The default settings for "Dungeon Door, Wood" are -67 Horizontal and 0 Vertical, in case you want to set it back to the proper hinge point.
