Keeping spambot accounts at bay

heruca (Original Message) wrote:I would like your feedback on what you think of BRPG's feature list, the screenshots, the licensing scheme, the web site - in short, everything. How can BRPG make your gaming experience the best it can possibly be? Thought of a feature or three you would like added? Share your ideas! You need to register in the forums to post a feature request (thank spam-bots for that  ), but registering is quick and easy, and you'll receive automatic notification when BRPG is released or updated, and when someone responds to your posts (optional).

To encourage people to register in the forums, I am going to pick a random registered user on the day BRPG is released. That person will win their choice of a Player Client or a free floating license. But everyone who registers wins something, as I will also be making additional materials (maps, figure art, etc.) available for download in certain forums that can only be viewed by registered users.

My intent is to establish a community where users of the Battlegrounds Games software can actively participate in its development and expansion. The "User Creations" section of these forums will serve as a central repository for all user-created add-ons to the Battlegrounds game engines. There you will find new maps, figures, objects, and other goodies that you can use in your own games (well, you will once the software is released).

The idea is that if everyone contributes, even just a little bit, then those contributions will really add up, and everyone will enjoy the benefits of a more powerful and useful toolset to enhance their games with.

Due to a problem with spam-bots registering on these forums with bogus accounts, as of 10 July, 2006, links to non-existant websites will not be allowed in user's profiles, nor will links to inappropriate sites (porn sites, sites that sell drugs online, etc.). Users who put such web links on their profile will have their account deleted immediately, with no prior warning.

New forum policy (effective 8/9/06): You may not include a website URL in your user profile until you have posted at least once.

If your registration attempt is failing, this is probably why.

(effective May 12, 2007)
The above is no longer true, since the new security features will hopefully make that unnecessary.
 Please help spread the word about BRPG and BGE, and never hesitate to tell me how I can make them better suit your gaming needs.
