Rectangular base size

I've got a couple of units that are two squares by one square (for example, a Giant Wolf), and it would be great to allow a 2x1 base.

I have a lot of mounted units (horses, etc) which would fit better on a 1x2 base.

I agree having long bases would help with mounts, cars, waggons, dogs and other long base beasts.
Also a small base 1/2 square for tiny figures would be cool but most likely be a pain in the coding butt to do.
Large bases Like 8 squares by 8 squares for truly colossal figures.

Another thought, would it be possible for bases to be referenced through a folder like in preferences thus allowing the user to add custom base sizes?

I use hexes but I still can completely get behind the utility of a 2x1 base size regardless! Definitely a good addition!

I just started working on these. Here's a preview of how they will look.

There's a lot involved in fulfilling this feature request. In addition to creating 45 new graphics to support this new 2x1 square base type (in all base colors and orientations), I will also need to create 2 new Movement Overlay graphics, and 20 Halo graphics (to show the figures in selected state in the various orientations and Health Status settings). Then I'll have to manually set offsets/registration points on all of these graphics and rewrite a fair bit of code. The size of the BRPG installation is expected to grow noticeably. I'm not sure yet by just how many MBs.

Looks good! Thanks for all the work on this. The 2x1 base size will be very useful.

The addition of this feature is now complete and tested, and will be premiering in BRPG v1.8b, which is due out soon.

Any requests for other base sizes (e.g., 2x4 squares, 1x3 squares) will have to wait until BRPG v2.

I'm using BGE 1.5 and I notice that has only square base sizes available did the 2x1 base size feature make it into BGE or is it only available in BRGP?

Looks like I never added 2x1 mini bases to BGE. Should I take this as a sign that somebody needs this feature in BGE?

Well, I have mostly oblong tokens for the game I am setting up but on closer inspection they are not 2x1 (5x2, 2.5x1.5) but if the base can be sized independently of the token it might be useful have the 2x1 size. Otherwise I will use multi-tokens to represent different unit states (on which I might have a couple of more questions later) a bit more work setting up PNG images but perfectly usable.

For what it's worth, I am adding the 2x1 square mini bases to BGE v1.6, currently in development.

I think it might be useful for certain tabletop miniature wargames.

Thanks for that with the option wouldn't be totally relevant to my current Lost Battles project, it would be helpful for my plan to create a generic wargames table simulation.
