Greenstone Monastery

Post by Torq » Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:09 am

Hi all

I was lucky enough to win the October challenge over at Cartographer's Guild (http://www.cartographersguild.com/) with this entry. I thought that the indoor map might be useful for those looking for a ransacked church/temple for their games.

I hope someone gets use out of it.

I think these both look great! Thanks for sharing.

But I do think they would have more universal appeal if you didn't hard-code labels into them. ;)

Good point Full Bleed. I'll put together versions without the labels.

I can't see how you could not have won with this entry :D
Congrats again 8)

Love the style of both maps and the indoor version looks even better than the version I saw before

Kicks (censored). :)

I second the request for no labels (and maybe no dead bodies).

Here is a different version of the interior map, both labeless and corpseless.

Thanks for the update. :)

If you don't mind me asking... what is the thing with the 3 candles on the left side?

Yeah, I was wondering about that too.

For the competition we were given a photo of a monastery (looked like Russian Orthodox) and a two line intro which went something like "a monastery has been been overrun by a group of evil cultists who have set about converting it into a shrine for their evil purposes".

The design was supposed to be created by the cultists as part of their defilement of a once sacred place. Its supposed to be the image of their patron masked deity, with candles placed strategically.

Very cool maps, Torq. Love the mapping style on both of them. Thanks especially for posting the "generic" versions.

And congrats on winning the October mapping challenge. :D
