Don't know about the Mac but for Linux you're probably talking about the /etc/ folder from route. There are several alternatives but most Linux flavours have that.

For me, the main thing is that there's no hierarchy of ownership of the game. I.e. no GM, all players can put stuff down, fog of war is on a per player basis and so on. All the rest, the order of battle, victory points etc. is a nice to have, but not 100% necessary. Take the heirarchy out and BRPG i...

Sholari, was the software you had on your computer Irfan Viewer by any chance? I seem to remember having a similar problem with that program a year or 3 ago... (not displaying alpha channels correctly). http://entropymine.com/jason/testbed/pngtrans/ is a useful test page to see if you have a general...

Apparently, Mr. Gygax wouldn't approve of VTs, or any form of online gaming. I'm d*mn sure he'd prefer them to WoW... :? And Omnidon, if he hadn't invented the hobby, there wouldn't have been any spin offs to get you guys interested. No big fantasy industry, probably no MUDs... It would have been a...

I think the hobby overtook him after the 80s but at the end of the day, none of us would be here if it wasn't for him!

RIP Mr. G. You will be missed! :(

I'd assume all you'd do is create the grid in that, and it should just auto-scale. A square grid is probably really easy to do, but how do you make a mathematically perfect hexgrid?. This must be a solved problem though. CC at least uses vector graphics & does hex maps. Once you have the hex based ...

According to the website Director 11 supports vector based graphics (doesn't say which but there you go).

Assuming it's something like wmf, I'd assume all you'd do is create the grid in that, and it should just auto-scale.

Or am I missing something obvious?

</lurk> I would have thought the main difference between a Wargame BG and BRRPG would be the lack of needing a GM for the Wargame edition. I.e. Any play could initialise the map, then all players a their own units (poosibly to a predefined limit as specified as part of the map creation process), pos...

</lurk> Larger maps, perhaps even boundless maps (40x40 cells is too restrictive, particularly for ranged combat) Not sure how Director's graphical OM works, but could you do this via splitting the map up into segments, and only service to the screen the relevant images? Kind of like how google maps...

Here's some interesting reading about the various D&D stat block formats. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20060707a Interesting. I'm sure I've seen somewhere (possibly on the Wizards boards) that you can get the monster stats as an xml file. Taking that and translating them into a "real...

Would it maybe be useful to only be able to do it for objects of the same type (figures (maybe broken down by visible/hidden), objects), and then be able to include/exclude by using the shift key (i.e. standard windoze behaviour). This may mean it would be a setting somewhere as to what is dragged, ...

I'm sure once we see a stat block, someone could easily take the SRD files and write a converter for them.

I think the stat block is even simpler that the standard XML format they are in.

Back to lurking... :)
