MapForge Alpha Release came out yesterday, so expect BGE v1.8 sometime next week.

Strange, you shouldn't be seeing the question mark (i.e. placeholder) tokens if you loaded the file in the same BGE installation (assuming you didn't use the Purge Media panel to wipe your imported media).

Are you using BGE v1.7? When you first launch it, select "Session-Specific Settings > Antialias > On (or Off)". Then from the same submenu, select the option to save your settings permanently. This will hopefully make it so that your saved game files don't include VOID values, which makes them unloa...

Unfortunately, MapForge has been delayed, and that has, as a ripple effect, delayed BGE v1.8. But it shouldn't be much longer.

It's not really a bug on my end. Everything was working fine until a new version of an nVidia video card driver was pushed out via a Windows Update. It pretty much depends on them fixing the bug they introduced.

For the Close Assault game, I just used a pre-gridded map, rather than a blank grid overlay, to extend the playing area. No reverse-engineering required. :)

You might try copying a grid PNG from BGE's "Grids" folder to the Components folder. Then in BGE, place the grid alongside the gridded map area (which is 40x46 when using a hexgrid), and lock it down once it's perfectly positioned. You might have to use the Nudge feature to get it to align exactly. ...

Welcome, Blackbird. Even the least expensive BGE client allows for an additional participant to play without a license, so you shouldn't need another license if this will be a two-player game. By the way, if you manually import the art on the player client, it's OK for the art to be over 2 MB, as it won't need to be transmitted over the network.

You might need to resize the visual aids to ensure that they are under 2MB uncompressed. 2MBs is the largest message that BRPG can transmit via the networking code (exception: maps get sliced up into rows, so they can be bigger). BRPG has never handled maps greater than 4000x4000 pixels well. The reason is that the Fog of War feature can't generate images large enough to cover the entire map. Is your GM license unaffected? Odd about your Floating License being lost. It might be that Win 98 expects preferences files in a diff...
